The Embroidery Digitizing Pricing Guide: Rates, Flat Fees, and Quality Metrics

Understand how custom digitizing is priced. Compare flat-rate vs per-thousand stitch pricing models, and learn how to secure the best value for your budget.

For screen printers, promotional product distributors, streetwear brand owners, and custom apparel shops, understanding the economics of embroidery digitizing is critical to protecting your production profit margins. ### 1. The Per-Thousand Stitch Pricing Model This is the traditional commercial model. Under this setup, a digitizer charges you a base rate for every 1,000 stitches required to complete your design. Typical rates range from **$1.50 to $4.00 per 1,000 stitches**. ### 2. The Flat-Rate Pricing Model (Highly Recommended) To eliminate budget uncertainty, many premium modern digitizing studios (including StitchVolt Studio) have transitioned to a **Flat-Rate Model** based on the size and placement classification of the design. Typical flat-rate brackets across the industry look like this: * **Left Chest & Cap Logos (Small format, up to 5")**: $15.00 – $35.00 flat fee. * **Mid-Sized Logos (Backpacks, sleeves, chest crests, up to 8")**: $35.00 – $65.00 flat fee. * **Large Jacket Backs (Up to 12" - 15")**: $75.00 – $150.00 flat fee.
